Full Moon Rituals

Each month, the moon moves through its cycle and arrives at its peak - the Full Moon. It is a time of powerful energies and intense emotions. By using ritual practices we can utilise these energies to invite transformations. The full moon is the perfect time for manifesting, releasing and energetic cleansing.

What is a Full Moon Ritual?

Just like the moon moves through its cycles, so too do we. A full moon ritual is a practice that acknowledges this cycle as well as harnesses the cosmic energies that are transmuted at this time. Ritual practice allows us to tap into our own subtle energies, revealing our deepest desires and all that we wish to let go of. There are many different kinds of rituals that can be performed on the night of the full moon, if you're looking for where to start, we suggest to start with a cleansing & manifesting ritual.

How To Perform Your Cleansing And Manifesting Ritual.

1. Cleansing.

Cleansing involves cleansing oneself and one's space during the night of a full moon.

Take a bath with salts, herbs or tinctures to cleanse your energetic body of negative energy. If you don't have a bath, having a shower with the intention of cleansing your energetic body will suffice.

Cleanse your space. I like to start this process first by making sure my space is clean and tidy. Then I burn sage, and gently blow it or fan it around my space, starting at your front door and slowly moving throughout the house, making sure to get into each and every nook. At the same time it is important to have a clear intention for your home. This could be as simple as to have fresh energy, or it could be to invite more joy into the space, or create a more nurturing space. Just think about what it is you want for your home, and hold that vision strongly while smudging.

2. Clearing.

Clearing your mind. The next step is to find some quiet space for yourself. I like to have a candle lit, and I like to do it outside in the moonlight if the weather permits. Otherwise, create a comfortable and safe place to sit and close your eyes, dropping into a meditation for 5 minutes.

3. Manifesting

This is all about acknowledging yourself. Stay sitting in your comfortable space and start thinking about what it is that has not served you in this past cycle. Recognizing habits, behaviours, people that are not serving you and your highest good. I like to write these down. You can imagine its like trimming back a beautiful lavender bush. You will keep focusing on what is blossoming and get rid of any weeds that might hinder your growth. Then I like to think about, and write down all of the things that I do want for myself, these are your manifestations. Some prompting questions could be.

- What do you want to feel this month?

- Who do you want to show up as this month?

- Who is the dream version of yourself? What do you do everyday, how much money do you make, what kind of fun do you have?

- Is there a job that you want to get, or what in your wildest dreams do you want?

4. Action steps

It is important to write down some action steps. The universal law of manifestation states that it will not work without action. What does this mean? It means you can't say you want to lose 5kg and feel like your best self, but not take any steps towards making that happen. So what are 3 steps you can take this month, to move you towards living a life wilder that your wildest dreams?

Tips for Setting Yourself Up for a Successful Full Moon Cleansing Ritual

Set the intention for your cleansing. What do you want to release? What are you hoping to achieve? Having a clear intention will help you focus your energy and create powerful results.
Choose a comfortable place to perform your ritual. You may want to set up an altar with items that represent what you're trying to let go of, such as a photo of an ex-partner or a piece of paper where you've written down what you want to let go of (a bad habit, for example).
Gather the supplies you'll need, such as candles, crystals, sage, incense, and a bowl of water. You may also want to have a journal handy so you can write down any thoughts or feelings that come up during the ritual.
Begin by lighting your candles and sage, and then take some deep breaths to center yourself. Hold your preferred crystal in your hands, and feel its energy running through you. Once you feel calm and focused, start your ritual by going through each item on your altar and visualize releasing the negativity associated with it. As you do this, imagine the negative energy being sucked out of your body and into the candles or sage.
Once you've finished visualizing, thank the universe for helping you release what no longer serves you. Extinguish your candles, and then drink some of the water from the bowl (or sprinkle it on your body, starting at the head and going down) to symbolize purification.
